Miki Madness

My new gig: gardening on Alcatraz! The island has a stark, raw beauty : the manmade structures should all be destroyed. There is nothing noble about remembering how people were incarcerated in cages like dogs. Without buildings the island would be a windy paradise - with gardens and nesting birds and peaceful walks, much nicer to visit than it is now.

The trip of a lifetime !! 3 weeks and 3 days of fabulous! Swam, snorkeled, kayaked, SCUBA'd and learned Stand Up Paddle (easy!) Torture getting there (10+ hours crammed into a coach seat, then 5+ hours on a ferry that was rocking on a stormy sea.) But once there - it was heaven! (Except for having to endure SNORING men in the co-ed dorm.) After I was upgraded to a private room - every day and night were fab Challenged myself to paddle to nearby island - did that 3 rd day ! Then to swim @ 2 miles - did that within a week. SCUBA refresher in the pool followed by a lovely dive. One great vacation !
